I have chosen for my project to do a storybook about Werewolves.
I have chosen this because they have always been an interest to me, and I feel
that I can write decent stories about them. The topics of the three stories
vary starting with the first one being about a man that has made a deal with the
devil in exchange for power to save his family from the men who took them. In
this story he will get a ring and will be told to put it on when he is about to
rescue his family. This ring will turn him into a werewolf in order to kill the
men who took his family. However, it isn’t all that it is cracked up to be. I
will be drawing on the lore about the men who put on a belt that turns them
into werewolves. Except in this story it will be a ring and it will become
permanent. The second is a brief retelling of beauty and the beast, but in this
version the beast is a werewolf. The last story will be about a boy that goes
for a walk late one night in the forest. On this walk the boy happens to have a
wolf spirit enter his body. To get rid of it he must find a cure and fast
before the spirit takes over. I will be adding music for effect on each page to
be read with each of the stories. I believe the trouble will be shrinking these
stories down into a brief short story. I have started on the Story Book website, and have included a link to that.

Topic Research Week Three
The three different story book ideas that I have come up
with and will be considering are Changelings, Tricksters and or Werewolves.
Changelings- I am still stuck on the idea of taking the traditional changeling stories and putting a twist on them. I believe I have narrowed my stories down even more two three separate stories that I will do. One will include a story where the changeling gets switched out with a dead child to grow to love the family and be with them. Another story will be about a changeling that gets switched out with an evil kings’ child and is changes the fate of the kingdom for the better. The last version is one is a traditional telling of a changeling story where the child is stolen from the parents with a replacement put in its place that isn’t human! My Sources: Changeling Info, Different Changeling Legends, Wiki
Tricksters- For tricksters I am still running along the lines of three separate stories building up to a story that combines the three tricksters. The first three would be about Loki, Coyote, and Anansi. The build up would be in the third story where the three compete for top trickster.
Werewolves- I believe that I would like to stick with two of the first three options and I came up with another one. I would do three stories about werewolves but with a twist. The first story would open with a man who sold his soul for a ring that would change him into someone strong enough to save his family from men who had taken them. This ring would change said man into a beast whenever he put it on, but there will be a cost. The second is a retelling of beauty and the beast where beast is a werewolf. The third one is about a boy who gets changed into a werewolf through an animal spirit taking over his body when he went for a run. The spirit only comes out in great danger to protect him. Topic Brainstorm
I have several different ideas when it comes to possible storybooks
that I might do. The first of them being a story book based off the Brothers Grimm. I would take a story that they did not write that was familiar to me and
turn it into a Brothers Grimm esk story. I would make the story or series of
stories sound as if they wrote it. I would turn a couple happy children’s
stories into a darker illustration then the previous version. As to what
stories I have yet to pick. I would pick the most light hearted one I could and
maybe combine it with something from the grim brothers work or just turn it into
something darker. For instance stories like Cinderella, Princess and the Pea, and lastly Curious George.
The next idea I have for a storybook is going into changelings.
For this project I would either come up with a new story revolving around the
idea of changelings that was partially inspired from the reading or the retelling
of several other stories regarding changelings. I may even turn the basis of
the story from dark evil changelings to possibly hopeful where the changeling becomes
a part of the family and they live happily ever after. I still have to work out
which way I would spin it to make it different. Sources: Changeling information, Different Changeling legends.
The third option I have for my storybook is based on
tricksters. I would write it about a couple tricksters meeting. These tricksters
would be from different stories each with their own personalities and tricks up
their sleeves. I may even do it to where they were competing to see who could pull
the most tricks. I would do probably two or three adaptation retelling for two
to three of the chapters. Then the last chapter would include the tricksters
from the previous chapters combined into this one chapter. Sources: Different stories regarding Coyote, Tricksters Wikipedia, Stories about Anansi, Loki.
My last idea for the storybook would revolve around
werewolves. I have always been fascinated with the topic so I would combine the
several different types of werewolves in the different chapters. One of the
chapters I would talk about a man that became a werewolf by dawning a ring that
allowed a wolf spirit to flow into him changing him. This combines both the story
where the man could put on a belt and turn into a werewolf, and the Human
Animals where the wolf spirit comes into the man. Another chapter I would
probably do a spin on Beauty and the Beast, but where the beast was a werewolf
that went on killing sprees, adding a darker tone to the original story. I have
several different ideas based around werewolves that I could do stories about,
these are but a few of my ideas. A few sources; Human Animals, Book of Werewolves.
